Close friends and family of a loving couple came together as the pair tied the knot at a special Severn Hospice wedding ceremony.

Carl and Nicki Shermer planned their big day in just four days before marrying at our Telford hospice on a sunny Monday afternoon.

The groom, who is a patient on our ward in Apley Castle, said he was ‘so happy’ to have married his bride Nicki.

The ceremony took place in the conservatory on our Alexandra Ward and dozens of guests attended to see them exchange their vows.

When we asked how he felt to have married Nicki, Carl said: “Oh yeah, I’m married! It feels brilliant. We’ve got family, friends here and had no idea this was going to be taking place this time last week.

“It’s been organised so quickly. We’ve thrown everything together and begged, borrowed and stolen to get here. I’m so happy with how everything has gone and now I’m a married man!”

From inviting guests to booking the registrars – Nicki organised the wedding in just a matter of days with the help of our team.

Nicki, from Clacton-on-Sea in Essex, who moved to Telford to be with Carl, said she was delighted with how the day went.

She added: “I’m very happy – we planned it all so quick. It only took us four days. I should be a wedding planner!

“Everything just fell together; the hospice was a great place to have the wedding. We met online about a year ago and I moved up last year.

“We’ve only been together eight and a half months. He’s so funny and makes me laugh everyday – he’s brilliant.”
