Penblwydd hapus 1af Hosbis Hafren! Or for those of you who don’t speak Welsh: Happy 1st Birthday Hosbis Hafren!

We first opened a day hospice in Newtown back in 1998 located in the county infirmary but we decided to move to more appropriate premises following a review of our service provision in North Powys.

To celebrate a year in our new home the Hosbis Hafren team hosted a coffee morning and put their baking skills to the test with a mini-Bake Off-style competition and cake sale. There were also some fantastic prizes up for grabs in the raffle thanks to the generosity of local businesses and supporters.

Half a dozen budding bakers entered the hotly contested competition but after a difficult round of judging, Issy Evans, manager of our shop in Llanidloes, was crowned Star Baker for her delicious pecan slice.

Together with kind donations the coffee morning and cake sale has raised an impressive £402 for us. Well done to all those involved!
