A parade of princesses is being conjured up for a midnight walk so a Shropshire charity can have a fairy tale ending for one of its biggest events.

Severn Hospice, which cares for families in Shropshire and Mid Wales living with an incurable illness, is calling on women to step out with regal style to take part in its ladies-only sponsored walk-with-a-difference.

The two walks – one in Telford on May 12 and one in Shrewsbury on September 8 – have a Cinderella princess theme as all the participants, complete with tiaras, tutus and wands, have to finish before the stroke of midnight.

Hannah Gamston, fundraising officer for events at Severn Hospice, said: “We are delighted our Cinderella Midnight Walks are back for another year. They have been a key part of our events calendar for over a decade now raising much needed funds for us.

“Keeping with the Cinderella theme the walks will start at 10pm and we are encouraging all those taking part to be back by midnight to avoid turning into a pumpkin!

“For those planning on staying up late for our Midnight Walks you might want to make the most of our early bird special. Every lady who signs up by the end of the month will receive a free commemorative t-shirt.

“Each year thousands of women benefit for the specialist care we provide at the hospice, either directly or because of the care given to someone they love. Our Cinderella Midnight Walks are an opportunity for women to come together and show their support for our cause.

“It may be ladies-only for the walks but men can still get involved by volunteering and helping to marshal the route,” she added.

Registration is now open and these events always prove very popular. Early bird registration, available until the end of January, costs £15 per person and includes a free commemorative t-shirt. From February onwards registration costs £15 per person and commemorative t-shirts are available for an additional £5.
