Meet Heather from Calluna Upcycling

Heather Crowe, Calluna Upcycling’s inspirational founder, puts social and environmental values at the very heart of her social enterprise business.

The team at Calluna lovingly make the most gorgeous eco-friendly bags and accessories from event and exhibition fabrics that would normally go straight to landfill.

Heather is a great supporter of ours and generously donates 10% of proceeds of each sale to us.

“I’m passionate about community and from the moment the idea of Calluna Upcycling was formed I knew we would support local people,” she said.

“Severn Hospice is very dear to me and the fact they care for patients and their families in my local area means this is the perfect partnership.

“I want my local charity to benefit when I do.  As a small and very busy team, donating regularly from sales is the easiest way for us to support such a fantastic charity – and it quickly mounts up!”

Heather’s team of sewers are very special too – all are local women who have been empowered to return to work through Heather’s commitment to flexible working, good pay and belief in inspiring confidence and growing skills.

“All our sewers get a real sense of satisfaction knowing that every item they make helps raise funds for the hospice. All the team are from Shropshire and most of us know someone who has been supported by the hospice, so it means even more to them that it supports local people.

“We’ve also found that because of our connection, event organisers from across the country are keen to donate their waste event material to us because their fabrics are playing a small part in supporting charity.

“Supporting Severn Hospice is something to be proud of and something I do that my children can be proud of too.”
