Our wonderful Broseley Support Group recently reached not one, but two significant milestones.
Not only do they celebrate their 10th anniversary this year, the group has also exceeded the £100,000 target they set themselves when they first starting raising funds for our hospice in 2006.
During their annual coffee morning at Victoria Hall in Broseley the group presented a cheque for £11,500 to the hospice following their fundraising efforts over the the last 12 months. When adding this amount to their previous fundraising total the group has managed to raise a staggering £100,000 for our hospice in ten years.
Una Gough, Secretary and one of the the founding members of the group, said: “When we first started the group I never dreamt that we might go on for such a long time. However, as we grew in numbers and fundraising confidence over the years we began to feel that a target of £100,000 might be within our grasp. It is quite a feeling to realise that we made it to this landmark occasion.”
The Mayor of Broseley, Cllr Simon Harris, attended the event and praised the group for their contribution to our hospice and the local community.
John Fairclough, Vice Chairman of Trustees, accepted the cheque on behalf of the hospice. He commented “This is a quite extraordinary landmark and milestone for our Broseley Support Group. We are both proud of, and grateful for, their amazing longevity and quite magnificent sums raised over the past 10 years.
“On behalf of everyone at Severn Hospice I would like congratulate the group on their momentous achievement and thank them for all they do to for our hospice.”
