Rosemary Greenaway from Little Dawley started attending our Day Hospice in Telford earlier this year. She then came to stay with us for a few days. Here Rosemary and her daughter Nicola talk about their experiences of the Hospice.

Shortly after recording her story Rosemary sadly passed away peacefully with her family by her side at our Hospice in Telford. 

Rosemary – Before I came to the Hospice I had heard good things from people. I first started coming to the Day Hospice every Tuesday, I enjoyed coming each week meeting new people. The food was lovely. The warmth you felt each time you walked in the building was unbelievable. When I could I joined in with the craft projects helping to make the banner for the Queen’s Jubilee and a photo frame.

Nicola – As a family we weren’t really aware of the Hospice before mum started coming to the Day Hospice. We think the whole thing is marvellous; from the transport to and from the Hospice to the care mum has received. Attending the Day Hospice gave mum a lift each week.

I think because mum had been to the Day Hospice it was an easier transition when she came to stay at the Hospice.

Rosemary – The nurses are looking after me well; they are very caring and very kind.

Nicola – The standard of care mum has received has been phenomenal. Having the open visiting times is a big help, we’re always made to feel very welcome.

Rosemary – The kindness the nurses have shown me is out of this world.
