Volunteer Roles

Most can volunteer at Severn Hospice, although we do have a minimum age requirement in some roles.

What volunteering roles are available at the Hospice? Take a look at the guidelines that follow the brief description of what each role is:

Day Hospice Volunteer Offer help, support and companionship to patients and staff including making refreshments and serving lunch. Taking part in activities such as arts and crafts sessions and outings.

Ward Volunteer General hostess duties offering support and companionship to patients and visitors. Helping at meal times and making beverages for patients and visitors when requested.

Transport Volunteer  Hospice Ambulance Driver / Escort – Transporting patients to day care or hospital appointments. Training given to MiDAS certificate level. Driver – Transporting patients to day care or hospital appointments using your own car. Mileage paid or the use of the hospice car.

Creative Therapy Support To assist the creative therapist in providing an atmosphere where patients are encouraged to join various activities offered during their time at the Day Hospice.

Reception Support Greeting visitors and escorting them to their destination as requested, offering refreshments to waiting visitors and answering the phone.

Admin Support To provide general clerical support to various Hospice departments including the Day Hospice, Lottery, Appeals and Physio. 
Gardening General gardening assistance and plant care within the extensive grounds.

Kitchen Assistant Assist in maintaining a first class catering service to patients, visitors and staff.

Laundry SupportAssist the Laundry operatives in providing a service to patients at the Hospice.
