How Businesses Can Help Us
This page provides information on how you, as a business, can support Severn Hospice, and how this will benefit you.
Why do we need support from businesses
We are a charity caring for thousands of people across Shropshire, Telford and Montgomeryshire. We provide services to patients as well as their families, friends and relations. We are not part of the NHS and rely on the support of local businesses and individuals for two thirds of our revenue.
We are also a group of companies in our own right, with a combined annual turnover of around £5million. Many experienced business people serve on our Board as Trustees. We understand and value the contribution that relationships with local businesses can bring to ensuring that we can continue to provide our vital services.
On top of the satisfaction of helping us deliver our services, our business partners benefit from

Working in partnership with us
Working with us is a two-way street. Many local firms have found that a partnership with us can benefit their business just as much as it benefits the Hospice. Every business is different and we can tailor our partnership to your particular business interests, skills and needs.
Funding
The most important help you could provide is a regular cash donation. We have to raise two thirds of our revenue from the public. Regular funding enables us to plan ahead and makes us more efficient. Corporate donations to charity can be very tax efficient. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss this in more detail.
Team building
Corporate entries into Hospice events like the Dragon Boat Festival and the Midnight Walk can be excellent team building exercises. Many businesses support their staff by matching the sponsorship they raise at our events.
There is always plenty of work that needs doing at one of the Hospices, from gardening to decorating. A work party can be an excellent way to develop communication and management skills while having fun and helping us provide our services across Shropshire, Telford and Montgomeryshire.
Internal communication
You might adopt us as your Charity and encourage your staff to organise fundraising events in support of Severn Hospice. You could set aside a day when employees bring in good quality second hand clothes and bric-a-brac which we will collect and sell in our network of shops.
Joining the Give as You Earn scheme will allow your employees to donate easily with only a slight impact on your payroll administration.
Promoting the Hospice Lottery internally won’t cost you a penny and it could net one of your employees £2,000.

Gifts in kind
Many businesses provide valuable assistance with gifts or loans of equipment. With large gardens, kitchens, wards, offices, and shops there is a very wide variety of equipment and supplies that we rely on to deliver our services every day. In addition, our fundraising team has an even more varied need for materials. For example Birse Construction helped with our 2008 Midnight Walk by lending us traffic cones and tabards, sourcing minibuses and encouraging staff to help out on the night.
