This page gives information, help and advice for people who are thinking about organising events to raise money for Severn Hospice.
Why raise money for Severn Hospice
If you raise money to help us continue to care for people affected by progressive and terminal illness you will be directly helping your friends and neighbours. You will be ensuring that we are there if you or one of your loved ones needs us. And you will probably be having fun or meeting a personal challenge while you do it.

Advice and some guidance
Please speak to us before raising money in our name. We can give you some help, advice and publicity and it avoids embarrassment when people phone us with enquiries about your event. If you produce your own posters or tickets you must display our charity number, which is 512394. We can often help by designing and even printing publicity materials, but we keep the fundraising team small and busy so you must give us at least three weeks notice.
The simplest way to get in touch is to fill in this event form. Please give us a couple of days to get back to you.
Please note, we do not allow anybody to raise money for us by parachuting, skydiving or tandem diving and cannot accept funds raised in this way even if we are only informed after the event.
We can often claim extra money from the government through Gift Aid but the money must be collected in a way the government approves of. Please check our Gift Aid page before asking for donations. To qualify for Gift Aid, money raised through events must be administered in a particular way.
If your event involves live music, dance, film, a play or other entertainment, or if you intend to serve alcohol, then you may need to apply to your local council for a licence or Temporary Event Notice. More information is available from your local authority.
