The Great Big Bike Ride

What a fantastic day!

On Saturday 5 September 2009 the roads and cycle paths of Shropshire were filled with cyclists of all ages taking part in The Great Big Bike Ride to raise funds for Severn Hospice. Photos from the day are now up on our flickr page.

This was the third year of the popular event, which is organised in partnership with The Bicycle Hub and Telford Centre Rotary Club. Thousands of pounds are expected to be raised through the efforts of the riders, who chose between 12 mile, 26 mile and 100km routes.

Thank you to everybody who came along and took part, and to all those who sponsored them. We would also like to thank Raynet, St Johns, Sustrans and CTC for helping to keep the riders safe and making sure that an enjoyable day was had by all.

The Great Big Bike Ride will return next year, but we are planning big changes. If the idea of taking part in an organised cycling event appeals to you, why not tell us what you would like? Would a shorter, led ride tempt you to come along with the kids? Are you up for a challenge but looking for a shorter (or longer) ride than 100km? Use the feedback button at the bottom of the page to tell us what you think, and keep an eye on this page for future announcements.
