The Dragon Boat Festival is an important fundraising event for Severn Hospice. Each team must pay £200 to register and then commit to raise a minimum of £1000 in sponsorship. For a team of 20 people this is just £10 each to enter and a further £50 in sponsorship. Registration packs are available by calling 01743 354 450 or emailing appeals@severnhospice.org.uk.
Teams can consist of up to 20 people. Up to 16 people will be able to take part in each race, with a further team member acting as drummer.

One member of the team must be nominated as Team Captain. All correspondence will be sent via this individual and they will take responsibility for ensuring that all monies are collected and paid to Severn Hospice by the due date, 28 August 2009.

Returning a completed registration form and paying your £200 registration fee will be taken as your acceptance of these points.
Dragon Boat Events Ltd are the organisers of the racing on behalf of Severn Hospice. They will provide training on the day and will supply all equipment needed. Their terms and conditions of participation are outlined on the reverse of the registration form. Please ensure that all team members have read these carefully and accept the terms before adding their name to the form.
The minimum age for entry in this event is 12 years old. Any participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the boat by an adult and a consent form must be signed by their parent or guardian. This form is available from the Appeals department and should be completed as part of the registration process.
Dragon Boat Racing is a physical activity and for their own safety Severn Hospice will not permit pregnant women to participate in this event.
You will need to be reasonably fit to take part in the event and must be able to swim for 50 metres while wearing a life jacket. If any team members have any doubts about their health or level of fitness they should consult their doctor before registering for the event.
Once your registration paperwork has been received at the Hospice we will send you a further pack including:
- Sponsor forms for the whole team
- Information on setting up a team page on Just Giving, a website that takes the pain out of collecting sponsorship
- A form for you to complete with information on your team members, the organisation you represent, any special occasions such as birthdays that are being celebrated on the day and other information that can be used by the event commentator on the day
- A schedule for the day including what time to arrive, where to go, what to expect etc
