Lynne and Geoff’s story

Lynne, 49 from Claverly, is a Day Hospice patient who is staying at Severn Hospice in Telford. Below she and her husband Geoff talk about their experience of the Hospice.

Lynne – I first came to the Day Hospice in March. I wouldn’t miss it for the world now. I come on a Thursday and it’s really lovely, people are so friendly. I’ve had a few hand massages and that was lovely. It’s so relaxing as you don’t realise how tense you can get.

Geoff – On Monday it was our 30th wedding anniversary and I wanted to do a bit of a surprise for Lynne as she was in here. I mentioned it to the nurses and they jumped on board straight away, I didn’t really have to do a great deal. Linda the chef did a nice meal for us, steak and chips with all the trimmings so it was really special. They decorated the sun room for us and took a lovely picture.

Lynne – We spent a bit of time crying, it was a bit emotional. But we had a lovely time.

Geoff – Everyone is just so kind, you don’t have to lift a finger. It’s a happy place, a very happy place and the nurses are absolutely fantastic.

Lynne – It’s a very special place and you should never be frightened of coming here. Just come and see, everyone will make you feel really welcome. I never knew what a true angel was until I came here, they are just absolutely brilliant.
