Severn Hospice expands its services in Telford

Posted on Jan 9, 2012

From Monday 9 January we will be running our day hospice at our Apley Castle site four days a week instead of three to accommodate an increase in the number of patients being referred to the service.

Our Telford day hospice is one of three we run across Shropshire and Mid Wales. As part of the wide range of care we provide the day hospice can often act as a lifeline for those who attend. The service will now be available in Telford on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week.

Helen Duce, day hospice manager, said: “Our day hospices offer a number of services to patients with life-limiting illnesses including medical support, complementary therapy, social and spiritual care to name a few. They also provide respite for carers and a fantastic social opportunity for our patients. To be able to offer all this support for an extra day in Telford is fantastic news.

“We have increased the number of days we run the day hospice in Telford due to the growing number of people who need our help. At times people have had to wait for a place to become available which is why we have made the decision to open on Mondays.

“We are just one big happy family at the hospice and we are looking forward to welcoming our new patients.”

Our other day hospices are in Bicton Heath, in Shrewsbury, and Newtown, in Powys. To find out more about our day hospices click here.
