Lights of Love shining out
Posted on Dec 5, 2011
Hundreds of people from across the region braved the cold to join us as we switched on our Lights of Love Christmas tree during a special carol service on Sunday 4 December. Our Lights of Love service allows us to take time out of our busy lives to remember those close to our hearts who will not be with this Christmas.
The evening was compered by Krissi Carpenter and Severn Hospice Trustee John Fairclough with Hospice Chaplin Harry Edwards leading the address. The service also included special performances from Wem Jubilee Band and the Newport Male Voice Choir.
Our Lights of Love service is always a very special and emotional evening for all who attend. Each light on our Lights of Love Christmas tree represents a loving memory of someone who is greatly missed, especially at this time of year. The lights on the Christmas tree will be shining out every evening until Twelfth Night.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who helped make this year’s Lights of Love service such a success. A special thank you to Express Cafes for kindly hosting the evening once again, and to Wem Jubilee Band and Newport Male Voice Choir for providing such wonderful performances. We would also like to thank Edgton Farm for providing such a beautiful Christmas Tree, Salop Haulage, Shropshire Technical Services, RMW Electricians, Richard Shuker, John Challoner and Pears Joinery for donating their time and skills to make the event possible. A final thank you to all those individuals who helped with car parking, preparing and clearing the site, taking photographs and all the other details that make the evening run smoothly. Each year our Lights of Love appeal helps raise essential funds so we are able to care for those who need our help this Christmas. If you were unable to join us for the service and would like to make a donation you can visit our virtual tree here, where you can also leave a dedication. Alternatively, you can call the Appeals team during normal office hours on 01743 354 450 to donate by telephone.
