A classic event!
Posted on Aug 21, 2011
A blazing sun and blue skies greeted our second vintage and classic vehicle rally at Attingham Park on Sunday 21 August.
Following the success of the inaugural event last summer the National Trust kindly agreed to allow the event to be repeated. We were delighted to see a big increase in the number of vehicles on display, with 185 lining up before the great hall.
Hundreds of visitors were able to enjoy the sight of cars, trucks and other vehicles from the late 1920s to current designs which are destined to become true classics, with every decade in between represented. Many owners were kind enough to allow spectators to look under the bonnet or even to inspect the interior of the models.
We are delighted to announce that the event raised £2500, an increase of £1000 on last year.
Our Flickr page has a range of photos from the day and we hope to add more soon. If you would like to add your own photos to our gallery just email appeals@severnhospice.org.uk.
Further photos are available at the Leach Classic Collection website, which features a gallery of over 100 pictures.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the National Trust and the tremendous team at Attingham Park.
Our thanks go to all of the drivers and their families, many of who enjoyed a run around the Shropshire countryside before lining up at Attingham. We simply would not have had an event without their beautiful vehicles.
Finally, a huge thank you to everybody who turned out to enjoy the sunshine and the remarkable display.
We hope to be able to repeat the event in some format in 2012 and will be announcing the date as soon as this has been confirmed – watch this space!
