Fundraising Goth Night in Wellington
Posted on Jul 13, 2011
Internet radio station Nightbreed Radio presenter DJ Cruel Britannia and BBC Radio Shropshire’s very own Jim Hawkins will be teaming up on Friday 15 July at the Haygate pub in Wellington, Telford to serve up a night of alternative and gothic music from the 1980s. Entry on the night is just £2, the proceeds from which will be donated to Severn Hospice.
This will be no ordinary 80s night. The lights will be low and the dry ice may flow, but spirits will be high and memories of a lost youth soundtracked by the darker side of 1980s music will be relived. If you were the sort of person who avoided the sunlight, stomped about in pointy boots and had far more hair than you’d ever hope to have now, then this is the night for you!
Jim Hawkins met Cruel Britannia in 2009 when he invited him into the hallowed halls of BBC Radio Shropshire’s studio to talk about the founding of World Goth Day, the goth scene and other music genres which refused to stay in the past. Having taken to the DJ decks himself in smoky alternative nightclubs in days gone by, it was only a matter of time before Jim was to join Cruel Britannia to spin some of the music that you just never get to hear anymore unless you’re brave enough to enter a ‘proper goth night’ in the nearest city!
