Cycling marathon brings fundraisers closer to target
Posted on Jul 28, 2011
Chandra and Gill Davda decided to mark their Silver Wedding Anniversary in October in a very special way. They set themselves the challenge of raising £25,000 for Severn Hospice and Hope House, and with the support of their friends and family have been fundraising all year.
Their third major event of the year took place earlier in July, when 14 cyclists joined forces to ride a circular route from the Plough Inn in Allscott, taking in Apley, Preston, Kinnersley, Tibberton, Child’s Ercall, High Ercall, Roddington and Whittington along the way. Having completed their epic ride the cyclists were treated to a welcome drink and barbecue back at the pub.
The team of cyclists raised an amazing £4000, bringing the total for the year to date to £15,800.
Chandra and Gill are not ready to relax yet and are determined to meet their final target by October. On 29 July their three children, Sanjay, Neil and Ricky, will be undertaking the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours, along with ten of their friends. This will be followed with a special dinner and dance at Hadley Park Hotel on 13 August, and finally a 15 mile hike over Long Mynd on 18 September.
Regular updates on their progress can be found on their Just Giving page, where you can also make a donation to support this fantastic fundraising challenge. Tickets for the dinner and dance are available by calling 07976 743 363.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Chandra and Gill, and to everyone who is supporting them along the way.
