Barcelona in a Banger raises £4k

When four Shrewsbury engineers decided it might be fun to drive to Barcelona in an ‘old banger’ they also chose to raise money for Severn Hospice . ‘Team Transporters’ have now been able to present a cheque for the tremendous sum of £4446 to the Hospice after successfully completing the 3000 mile round trip in May.

Leaving from Severn Hospice at Bicton Heath the four men travelled in a 1996 BMW that had already travelled 110,000 miles and which they purchased for just £250. With the help of several local businesses who provided sponsorship, skills and parts, they prepared the vehicle for the journey. It then survived the trip with no further servicing required.

Richard Ellis, Jeff Davies, Ray Salter and Colin Fitch were delighted with both the success of their trip and the generosity of those that they had approached for sponsorship and support, particularly local businesses partners, and would like to them all for their generosity.
