Win an excuse for a party!
Posted on Jun 23, 2011
When Vince Neads turned 50 his friends were in no doubt about what cake to get him.
With inspiration coming from guitarist Dan Jones, Vince’s friends Corrina Jones and Jenny Brooker, a professional cake maker, came up with a one-off design based on Dan’s own guitar.
The resulting sponge cake, topped in marzipan to replicate the detail of the guitar, was a huge success. There was only one downside… Nobody could bring themselves to cut the cake!
After much debate Vince and his friends have kindly donated the cake to Severn Hospice in the hope that it will find a home where it is both admired and eaten.
Believing that a cake like this is the perfect excuse for a party, we are launching a silent auction to win the cake. The auction runs from 9am on Thursday 23 June to 9am on Friday 24 June. To be in with a chance of winning, simply email your best bid to appeals@severnhospice.org.uk.
The highest bid received by 9am on Friday will win the cake.
The winner must be able to collect the cake from Priorslee on either Friday 24 June or Saturday 25 June. All bids must include a contact name and telephone number. Bids can also be made via dm on Twitter to @severnhospice. The cake should be consumed within 48 hours of being cut.
