Cambrian Crusaders finish epic ride

Posted on Aug 3, 2009

Despite bad weather and forecasts of worse to come, 20 intrepid cyclists gathered at The Bicycle Hub at 10pm on Friday 31 July ready to start a 100 mile bike ride for Severn Hospice. Pausing for a photocall on the Iron Bridge, the riders then cycled through the night to the final destination of Barmouth. The final checkpoint was not due to open until 7am but four riders arrived at 6am and all had finished by 7.04am. They were full of praise for the route, the marshals and the bacon baps served up by The Bath House on the seafront. Some even had enough energy left to go for a quick paddle after breakfast! The night wasn’t without incident – there were a few tumbles and the crank on one rider’s bike snapped (luckily just as he approached the finish line) but the Bath House was buzzing with laughter as the cyclists exchanged stories.

This event has already raised over £1500 for Severn Hospice and we would like to thank the riders and our friends at The Bicycle Hub for all of their hard work. The event will be repeated next year so keep an eye out for details, or pre-register with The Bicycle Hub now.
