Dragon Boat Race a summer treat
Posted on Jun 29, 2009
The annual Severn Hospice Dragon Boat Race took place in scorching sunshine on Sunday 28 June and was immediately declared a success by participants and organisers alike. Over 600 people, most of them in fancy dress, took part in three heats before a minor final and a major final rounded off the day. The overall winners were Severn Partnership with a fantastic final time of 1:23:98 but less than four seconds separated the six boats in the final.
Winners of the fancy dress contest were the Aqua-Holics who had been up into the early hours putting the finishing touches to their sheep costumes.
The event is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for Severn Hospice and teams are already registering an interest for the 2010 event. To be part of the fun visit the event page here and contact us to receive an information pack.
